Q. Do I have to be a music major to be involved in choir?
A. No, ALL choirs consists of both non-music majors and music majors.

Q. Do I have to audition for all ensembles?
A. Yes - all choral ensembles require an audition. Prospective and current students at UW-Eau Claire are encouraged to audition for a choral ensemble at "Wisconsin's Singing University." This process is separate from the departmental audition (students who wish to major in music at UW-Eau Claire) and consists of four aspects. Students will be asked to vocalize, sight-read, demonstrate pitch memory, and perform a prepared solo and/or My Country 'Tis of Thee. Students who participate in Summer Orientation may sign-up for an audition time during the 8:00 a.m. morning registration. At other times during the year, students may audition for a choral ensemble by contacting Dr. Frank A. Watkins, Director of Choral Activities.

A. Auditions for all ensembles (current students) happen during the month of April, with placements announced in May for the following academic school year. Incoming freshmen will audition for choral ensembles during Summer Orientation in June. At other times during the year, students may audition for a choral ensemble by contacting Dr. Frank A. Watkins.

A. Audition information will be sent to all students via campus email in early April. Students will complete the online registration form and sign-up for an audition. On the day of auditions, students are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to their designated audition time to complete an audition form. Again, incoming freshmen should plan to audition for choirs during Summer Orientation. At other times during the year, students may audition for a choral ensemble by contacting Dr. Frank A. Watkins, Director of Choral Activities.

Q. Do I have to be a music major to take voice lessons?
A. No, any student enrolled at the university is eligible to take voice lessons in a voice studio upon availability. For more information or to enroll in a voice studio, please contact Dr. Mark Mowry, Associate Professor of Voice.
