...is the newest ensemble to join the UW-Eau Claire choral family. this small chamber ensemble of 16-24 voices sings advanced repertoire from the early Renaissance to music of the 21st century. This ensemble is destined to thrill audiences with their diverse, unique repertoire, and intimate sound.
This choir is auditioned and is comprised of all majors throughout the university community. Each December, the ensemble prepares and performs "Ye Olde Madrigale Dinner" in the Ojibwe Ballroom of Davies University Center.
Due to its popularity, the dinner is performed twice during each holiday season. In Renaissance-period costume, the choir members recreate Lords and Ladies, Dukes and Duchesses, Counts and Countesses, and even a King and Queen.
Throughout the evening, these "Royal Court Singers" not only perform music from the madrigal tradition, but also sing the songs of the holiday season and conclude the festivities with a short play. At "Ye Olde Madrigale Dinner" patrons enjoy an authentic renaissance feast and are even encouraged to come dressed in period costume.
